Surprisingly, you get very little actual feedback when you do a podcast like this one. Oh sure, there are the death threats every time I change the format of the show or use improper grammar in a sentence, and of course there are the people that download the show the minute it comes out and rave about how great it is, even when I know I sucked eggs on the particular episode they're talking about. It's probably safe to discount these two extremes. For me, what is particularly rewarding is when a great local performer, like Brett Wiscons, gives us the scoop and lets us world-premiere his latest project not just once, but three times over. I'm not sure what help I actually am to him, and there is no real way to track whether any of his fans found him via Indy In-Tune, but it's nice that he includes us in his CD release ritual.
This time around, Brett Wiscons and Jon Shoulders give us five tracks from The Michaels' first release. Anyone who has seen the duo perform around town already knows how good they are, though they may not be overly familiar with their original material. Fans of Great Scott and Brett Wiscons' solo EP will no doubt find a lot of familiar ground in this album, however Jon's contribution as both a songwriter and performer add a strong new musical dynamic to the already great singer/songwriter aesthetic. Of the three "Great-Scott!-related" releases we've covered on the show, this one is definitely my favorite.
